Hi there! I’m Diego A. Carranza, a wedding photographer and storyteller based in Guadalajara.
Capturing love stories is my greatest joy, and I feel incredibly grateful to witness and document such meaningful moments. Photography isn’t just my career—it’s my way of celebrating life, love, and the connections that make it all so special.
MY STORY
My journey with photography began when I was 7 years old, flipping through family photo albums and imagining the stories behind each picture. By 8, I had my first camera in hand, and I knew I had found something special.
During a high school trip with friends, I took my first real photoshoot. While everyone was sightseeing, I found myself focused on capturing moments with my camera. I didn’t realize it at the time, but photography had always been quietly shaping my life.
At 21, I shot my first wedding, and that moment changed everything. I knew, without a doubt, this was my true calling. Despite everyone thinking I was crazy, I left my engineering studies behind and decided to pursue photography full-time. And that’s when my journey as a wedding photographer truly began.
As my passion for storytelling grew, I became more and more drawn to weddings. There’s something magical about capturing the raw emotions, spontaneous laughter, and heartfelt tears that make each love story unique. It’s a privilege to preserve these moments so they can be cherished forever thinking I was crazy, I left my engineering studies behind and decided to pursue photography full-time. And that’s when my journey as a wedding photographer truly began.
My style & philosophy
When it comes to wedding photography, I believe in a balance of creativity and authenticity.
I think guided moments can help us show our best selves. These structured moments are part of the editorial style I enjoy, but when it’s time to get creative, I love experimenting with unconventional angles and movements that bring out the unique energy of the day.
However, when a moment is naturally beautiful, I believe the best thing is to let it unfold organically—keeping it raw and real. I’m passionate about finding those moments that need nothing but their own beauty.
The magic of wedding photography lies in blending creativity with authenticity. Whether capturing a spontaneous glance or crafting something striking, my goal is to create memories that are fun, different, and full of life.
The Details That Shape my Style
Analog feel: I love photos with an analog vibe, even though I mostly shoot digitally, using technology as an ally to capture key moments.
Vertical photography: I take a lot of vertical shots. While horizontal photography has its advantages, there’s something about the individualism and prominence of the subjects in vertical images that I adore.
Black and white: I’m passionate about black and white photography, so expect a lot of it in my work.
Details matter: Every element of the wedding is carefully chosen, and I want to give each detail the attention it deserves.
Context is everything: Where we are and what we’re doing. Without context, the story is incomplete.
Editorial feel: The aesthetics and attention to detail in editorial magazines inspire me. I aim to tell stories in the most beautiful way possible.
Influence of greats: Photographers like Richard Avedon and Peter Lindbergh have had a lasting impact on my photography journey.
